The Chauffeur for a Day pricing

What is Chauffeur for a Day?

Chauffeur for a Day (CFAD) allows our passengers to make bookings for up to a full day at a flat hourly rate. The passenger can book a Chauffeur for a Day either for a half-day rate (3-6 hours), or a full-day rate (6-12 hours). CFAD pricing may apply to any journey under 3 hours. CFAD pricing can apply even if a passenger does not order their journey as CFAD.

When will the journey be calculated as CFAD fare?

  • If the passenger chooses the journey as a CFAD trip; OR

  • If the passenger is eligible for the feature and the fare according to CFAD pricing would be lower than the standard fare.

For example, if a Passenger requests a 3-hour ride and the total distance does not exceed 10 miles/hour (30 miles total), then it would be charged to the passenger as 3 hours * £60,00 = £180,00.

Fares are rounded to the nearest 30 minutes. For example, a journey that is 3 hours and 14 minutes will be billed as 3 hours, and a journey of 3 hours and 16 minutes will be billed as 3.5 hours. Please note that the unpaid waiting time for Chauffeur for a Day fares is 15 minutes.

How is the CFAD fare calculated?

Before we explain how it is calculated, it is important to emphasize that we have three different fares in this case:

  1. Standard Fare

  2. CFAD Minimum Fare

  3. CFAD Calculated Fare

See the examples below of how a journey can be calculated:

Scenario 1: if the Standard Fare is higher than CFAD Minimum Fare and CFAD Minimum Fare is lower than the CFAD Calculated Fare, then you’ll get the latter.

Tariff: Business

Type: Pre-Booked

Journey time: 132 mins

Journey distance: 101 miles

Step 1 — calculate the Standard Fare:

£11 (pickup) + (132 minutes * £0.85) + (101 miles * £1.4) = £264.60

Step 2 — calculate the CFAD Minimum Fare:

3 hours x £60 = £180

Step 3 — calculate the CFAD Calculated Fare:

Time: 132 mins = 2h2m = 2 hours (rounded)

Distance outside of per hour limit: ((101 miles — (2 hours x 10 miles per hour)) = 81 miles

CFAD Calculated Fare: (2 hours x £60 per hour) + (81 miles x £1.4 per mile) = £233.40

Conclusion:

As the CFAD Calculated Fare (Step 3) is greater than the CFAD Minimum Fare (Step 2), the CFAD Calculated Fare is applied, and the fare for this journey is £233.40.

Scenario 2: if the Standard fare is lower than CFAD Minimum Fare, however, the Standard Fare is higher than the CFAD Calculated Fare, then you’ll get the standard fare (which happens 95% of the time)

Tariff: Concierge

Type: Pre-Booked

Journey time: 97 mins

Journey distance: 21 miles

Step 1 — calculate the Standard Fare:

£11 (pickup) + (97 minutes * £0.85) + (14 miles * £1.4) = £113.05

Step 2 — calculate the CFAD Minimum Fare:

3 hours x £60 = £180

Step 3 — calculate the CFAD Calculated Fare:

Time: 97 mins = 1h37m = 1.5 hours (rounded)

Distance outside of per hour limit: ((14 miles — (1.5 hours x 10 miles per hour)) = 0 miles

CFAD Calculated Fare: (1.5 hours x £60 per hour) = £90

Conclusion:

As the CFAD Calculated Fare (Step 3) is less than the CFAD Minimum Fare (Step 2), the CFAD Minimum Fare would be £180. As the standard fare is lower than the Standard Fare, this rate is applied, and the fare for this journey is £113.05.

Scenario 3: if the Standard Fare is higher than CFAD Minimum Fare and CFAD Minimum Fare is higher than CFAD Calculated Fare, then you’ll get CFAD Minimum Fare.

Tariff: First

Type: ASAP

Journey time: 143 mins

Journey distance: 32 miles

Step 1 — calculate the Standard Fare:

£16 (pickup) + (143 minutes * £1.25) + (25 miles * £2.15) = £248.5

Step 2 — calculate the CFAD Minimum Fare:

CFAD Minimum Fare for First Class: 3 hours x £80 = £240

Step 3 — calculate the CFAD Calculated Fare:

Time: 143 mins = 2h23m = 2.5 hours (rounded)

Distance outside of per hour limit: ((25 miles — (2.5 hours x 10 miles per hour)) = 0

CFAD Calculated Fare: 2.5 hours x £80 per hour = £220

Conclusion:

As the CFAD Calculated Fare (Step 3) is less than the CFAD Minimum Fare (Step 2), then CFAD Minimum Fare is applied, and the fare for this journey is £240.

Are all passengers eligible for this feature?

No, the feature is available to a select group of loyal passengers.

Why is CFAD a good way to make money?

Chauffeurs who perform CFAD journeys on average earn more especially during low season days as they have longer journeys and on-trip time which maximises utilised hours and earnings.
